On Saturday, June 20 at 6 PM at AW Stanley Park, we will be hosting our first ever Transitional Division All-Star game! Come out to support all of the playing potential in our younger division. Concessions will be available, the park will be alive with music and entertainment. It is sure to be a great event and we are looking forward to seeing you there! Special thanks to Transition Division Directors, Joe Genovese and Paul Riccardelli for organizing this event!
Earlier this week, the Minors Giants and Majors Yankees were crowned champions in their respective divisions! In the Minors, we saw the Giants cruise through the season, only losing two games. They defeated the Dodgers in the championship game to secure their championship season. In the Majors, we saw the Yankees and Dodgers battle neck-to-neck throughout the season as they traded spots in first place almost every other day. They faced off in a best of three series and after the Dodgers won the first game, the Yankees jumped right back into the fray, defeating them in game 2 and 3 to win the Majors Championship. Congratulations to both teams on winning their division championship!
The Giants have had a great season and haven't lost a game since April 25th. The Giants were led by the pitching of Peyson Garcia, Chris Santos, and Anthony Ortiz. The Giants can pile up a lot of runs from a multitude of hitters up and down the lineup. Anthony Ortiz, Peyson Garcia, Chris Santos, Tom Wysocki, Angel Figueroa, Isaiah Ortiz, Yael Ortiz, and Mason Aiudi have all had big hits for the Giants throughout the season. The Giants are looking to take their momentum into the championship and cap off their season with a great ending.
The Dodgers have battled teams throughout the entire season and are looking to upset the Giants on Sunday, June 14 at 2:30 PM. If they are successful in doing so, the second and final game will be held on Tuesday at AW Stanley Park. Be sure to come out to the park on Sunday and watch as the two best teams in the Minors Division battle it out!
The Majors Division has completed the first part of their playoffs and are now set to begin a best of three championship series on Saturday. The Dodgers and Yankees, who battled each other for first place throughout the season, will square off at 6:30 PM on Saturday, June 13 at AW Stanley Park. The Dodgers cruised through the winner's bracket of the playoffs, knocking off the Brewers and Yankees.
The Yankees had a tougher time, losing in the first round to the Pirates before rebounding and defeating the Brewers and Pirates in the loser's bracket to make it to the championship series.
It's going to be a great match-up throughout the series and it's anyone's guess as to who will come out on top. The second game is scheduled for Monday at 6 PM and the third and final game, if necessary, will be Wednesday at 6 PM. All games will take place at AW Stanley Park down in the hole. On a humid Tuesday night in New Britain at AW Stanley Park, the New Britain Little League Majors Dodgers defeated the Pirates 12-6. Dodgers starting pitcher Dan Costa threw four solid innings after giving up a quick three runs in the first inning off hits by Yadiel Vera and Leo Moreno. However, the Dodgers quickly replied in their first at bat by racking up five runs off four hits and by adding three more runs in their third at bat when Amaziah Tejada hit his first of two doubles.
The Dodgers held the Pirates scoreless until the fifth inning when Danny Ruiz rocked a fastball over the left-center field fence; however by the end of the fifth, the Dodgers replied with more runs courtesy of singles by Nigel Crundwell and Derek Abraham who both stole their way around the bases to score. In the sixth and final inning, Dodgers relief pitcher Chris Gibbs relied on spectacular defensive plays by Fabian Negron (at shortstop) and Dominic Legnani (in right field) to preserve the win and seal their trip to the championship.
They will now face the winner of the Pirates vs. Yankees match-up, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday. The championship series will begin on Saturday at 6:30 PM at AW Stanley Park.
Our Minors and Majors playoffs began the weekend of June 6 and 7. We are nearing the championship games in each round with elimination games now taking place! A few upsets have already taken place and with each game having so much importance, no one knows who is going to walk away with a win to keep their season alive!
During the last week of the regular season for both divisions, it was an exciting one as teams were still jockeying for position in the standings and the final seeding literally came down to the last few days of the regular season. On Saturday, May 30, New Britain Little League marched in the New Britain Memorial Day Parade! The children and parents enjoyed marching along, throwing out candy and waving to the crowds as they passed by. While we were not able to get a float due to a last minute conflict with the contractor, the kids still had a great time.
Special thanks goes out to Paul Ricciardelli, Joe Genovese, Pedro Garcia, Shannon Ceberek, Dan Williamson and Craig Stephens for organizing the group and making sure everything ran smoothly! We also thank everyone else who came out, participated and honored our veterans on Memorial Day!
On Saturday, May 30, we will be participating in the Memorial Day Parade! If your child wishes to participate in the parade, please drop them off at the corner of Burritt and Myrtle Street between 5:30 - 5:45 PM. We will begin the parade route at 6:00 PM so if your child is not there by 5:45, they will likely miss the chance to participate!
Over the past several years, our players have had the fun opportunity to ride on the back of a flatbed truck. It has turned out to be a huge success and we have seen record attendance ever since. We plan to continue this on Saturday! Please have your child in their uniform and hat and feel free to bring along little American flags for your child to hold and if you want to add to the excitement, you can bring candy to have your child throw out to the crowd along the route!
See you on Saturday!
On Memorial Day Weekend, we held our annual All-Star Weekend for our Minors and Majors baseball divisions. Over 500 people packed the park between both Friday and Saturday night and it was an experience that our kids will never forget!
Games were competitive, the park was alive with music and other festivities! As an added bonus, the league was able to raise some money through raffles and fun shout outs. This money, of course, will always go towards continued improvements to our facilities and equipment.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of those that participated in making the All-Star weekend games a great success. A special note of thanks to Shannon Ceberek and her adorable sales team for all of their efforts with selling raffle tickets and thank you to our game announcer, Dan Williamson for his amazing voice talents!
We are now entering the home stretch of the 2015 spring season and we hope to finish it off strong!
The Minors and Majors Division All - Star games are set to take place on Memorial Day Weekend. To kick things off, the Minors Division will play on Friday, May 22 at 6:30 PM at AW Stanley Park. On Saturday at 6:30 PM also at AW Stanley Park, the Majors Division All-Star game will take place.
We will have a special menu for the all-star games at our concession featuring lots of different food that you don't normally see during the season. Additionally, we'll make sure it's as special as it should be for these players. That means the scoreboard will be on, players names will be announced and music will be played throughout the game in between innings!
24 players are selected for each game based on their skill-set, sportsmanship and other factors that lead to them being a good teammate and player not only on the field, but off it as well. Congratulations to all those who were selected and best of luck for a fun and exciting game!

On Saturday, April 18, over 1,000 players, parents, family, and friends came out to celebrate the Opening Day of New Britain Little League's 2015 season! The day started with a parade of teams to kick off our ceremonies.
