The 2015 season officially kicks off in a little less than a month (assuming all this snow melts) and we are now holding evaluations for the Minors and Majors Divisions. These evaluations are for children who are league ages 8-12, regardless of whether or not they played in our league last year. A child's league age in baseball is their age as of April 30, 2015. For all softball players, your evaluations will be set by the division director, Jose Rivera.
Please note that this is simply an evaluation session to determine whether your child would best fit in our Minors or Majors Baseball Division- your child is guaranteed to be on a team. We will hold a session on Tuesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 26 at 6:00 PM at Pulaski Middle School. If your child hasn't been to an evaluation session yet, they must come to one of these. Please have your child bring a baseball glove and comfortable clothes to run around in.
For those wondering about the other divisions - TBALL and Transitional - evaluations are not held. Instead, players are placed randomly on teams with an eye towards balancing age and experience throughout the divisions.
If you have any questions, please contact Rich Gadomski, President, at 860-604-3199. Thanks and we'll see you on Tuesday or Thursday!
New Britain Little League and the New Britain Junior Hurricanes are forming the ultimate partnership that will change the face of upper level baseball in the city for years to come. For the past 14 years, New Britain Little League has exclusively offered upper level baseball for players ages 13-15 in the spring. Now, we are working with the Junior Canes to provide the best possible baseball experience for children in that age group.
The upper level baseball program will continue to remain affiliated with Little League International. The difference lies in the more focused approach to a specific age group, which will increase the quality as well as the experience for the kids and parents. This means that these players will receive a higher quality of instruction, improved practice facilities, improved equipment and so much more that will allow them to become the best baseball player that they can possibly be.
Another change is that all of the teams will now be playing Little Leagues throughout the region instead of playing against each other throughout the season. This will allow for better competition and to give the players an opportunity to improve themselves against competition they’ll be seeing for the next several years.
The season length will remain the same, with practices already under way and games set to begin in April. The season will end before the middle of June to allow the athletes to play summer ball in their respective leagues throughout the city.
For those players who have already registered with us, we have transferred your information to the Junior Canes organization. If you haven't yet registered for the upper level division but wish to do so, you may e-mail the Junior Canes organization: email@example.com.
We'll be having our FINAL registration of the 2015 season on Wednesday, March 18 at New Britain High School from 6:30 - 8:00 PM in the cafeteria on the second floor. Registration covers both spring training and the spring season.
New Britain Little League offers baseball and softball to boys and girls who are between the league ages of 4 and 16. For those playing baseball, league age is a child’s age as of April 30, 2015. For those playing softball, league age is a child’s age as of January 1, 2015. We also offer a Challenger Division, which is for children who are physically and developmentally challenged. We have a full schedule for this team and play against other Challenger teams in surrounding towns.
Every year, we service over 700 boys and girls who are eager to learn the game of baseball and softball. New Britain Little League doesn't just teach about the game - we strive to teach self-confidence, discipline, responsibility, sportsmanship, team commitment, and more. We are excited to announce that we will begin spring training the week of February 1. As always, players will be separated by division and age and will be under the instruction of our coaches for the upcoming season.
Each division group will meet once per week for 60 - 90 minutes depending on age and skill level. Players will be shake off the rust from the off-season and will review the fundamental skills needed in order to play baseball or softball. They will also be introduced to new skills that will help them be successful during the spring season.
Please note that spring training is included in your child's registration fee. Your child cannot participate in spring training unless they are registered for the 2015 season. Our next registration will be held on Thursday, January 22 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at New Britain High School in the cafeteria on the second floor. Once your child is registered on that night, they will be assigned to a training session.
Despite the rain that hampered almost everyone's Saturday plans, our "Shake the Can" fundraiser really brought a bright and shiny day to the New Britain Little League and the community of New Britain. It also shows that when the community and hard work from our volunteers comes together, anything is possible. For this event, we were at the New Britain Stop & Shop on Corbin Avenue from 8AM until 2PM. During that time, we raised over $400 for the league thanks to the kind donations from those who were doing their grocery shopping!
Thank you to the following people who donated their time to make the "Shake the Can" fundraiser the success that it was.
Thank you for you time and hard work and making this fundraiser such a success despite the not so pleasant conditions.
There will be a Shake the Can Day for the New Britain Little League on Saturday, Oct 4 at the Corbin Ave. Stop & Shop in New Britain,Ct. There will be candy sales and taking donations that will go towards the New Britain Little League. This is an all day event . So that means you will have time to stop in and say hello to everyone, and grab some candy, and make a donation to a great organization.
Game schedules for the 2014 fall season have finally been released! Our teams will be playing against other towns such as Berlin, Plainville, Farmington, Yalesville and more! We will play two games just about every weekend starting this Saturday and going through the weekend of October 25 and 26. If games are canceled on the weekend due to inclement weather, they will most likely be made up during the week, weather permitting.
To view the schedules for each division, look over to your right and click the appropriate link. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's coach.
On September 2, we held our annual meeting where reports were given about numerous things throughout the league. In addition, members were elected to the Board of Directors for the 2015 season.
Richard Gadomski was elected as president of the league. Previously, Matthew Cannata had served seven years as president before deciding not to seek re-election in July of 2013. However, after former president Sue Gibson resigned in May 2014, Cannata came back to finish out the season and to lead the league through the remainder of the spring and summer months.
Gadomski has been involved with New Britain Little League for the past seven years in various capacities. He has been Vice - President twice, Director of Concessions, a division director, a head coach and assistant coach and more. He has worked side by side with Cannata in the past and there is no doubt that he is ready to lead New Britain Little League into its next chapter. The general membership also elected many new faces to the Board of Directors and they will be able to provide a fresh perspective moving forward.
We look forward to serving you for the 2014 fall season and the 2015 winter, spring and summer sessions! If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

On Tuesday, September 2, New Britain Little League will hold its annual meeting inside the New Britain High School Lecture Hall beginning at 6:30 PM. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be a chance for anyone to express any concerns, comments, suggestions and/or compliments from the 2014 spring season.
In addition to that, written reports from all board members will be available to read and verbal report regarding the current and future state of the league will be given by the President, Matthew Cannata. Following all of the reports, elections for the 2014-2015 Board of Directors will be held and once elections are complete, the new board will meet for the first time and will elect officers amongst themselves, including a new President.
We encourage you to attend to let us know how we're doing and what we need to do to improve so we can continue to be the number one choice for baseball and softball in the city of New Britain!
